A Review of the Xero Shoes FeelTrue Contact Huaraches Reviews
Another GREAT addition to the Sensori Venture is the achilles silicon strap. It’s awesome and keeps the strap from slipping while also offering some protection against redness and chafing to your achilles. I don’t like the heel cup though, I never had any issues with my heel slipping out of the shoe so it’s completely unnecessary for me. The Umara Z-Trail, in my humble opinion, is the best version Xero Shoes has ever come up with.

The funny thing about that is that outside of the basic lacing concept, there’s really no “wrong” way to lace up a pair of huaraches. It’s only ever wrong insomuch as your foot isn’t well attached to the sole. So be patient with yourself and don’t worry about messing it up too much. If you’re really concerned, you can opt for the pre-made, pre-cut-to-your-foot-shape Xero Shoes which will be laced already in the slip-on style. I found this greatly beneficial as my feet differ significantly from one another and being able to customize to each foot individually provided a fit that cannot be compared. Xero Shoes Hana Men’s New Vs OldWe walked through one pair in little less than a year—about ten months to be exact.
- But Xero have changed the lace material and so note the small little “bead” on the blue pair!
- Xero Shoes have excellent ground feel while still offering protection from punctures, abrasions, and other types of injuries.
- I loved them so much that I took them with me to more than 40 countries.
- It just ends up pushing up into the gap between your toes.
- The patient person should be able to create an ideal lacing configuration for his/her needs.
I was very pleased with the results, the slip-on method worked as advertised. From these experiences I can say without a doubt that these sandals are great xero shoes huaraches review for general/everyday use. Basically, it is a sandal that follows all of the criteria that we mentioned in our first shoe post.
If you’re after huaraches, give the Amuri Cloud a look!
Xero shoes are not only the most comfortable shoes in my closet and the most versatile, but they are also the most compact shoe as well! Travelling with my running shoes is no problem – they lay completely flat and take up no room at all in my bag. So packing road, trail and causal shoes is an absolute breeze and takes up less than one shoe pocket in my suitcase! And on a run, if I take them off they can roll up into my pack or pocket. I found Xero Shoes to be uncomfortable when running. More specifically, I couldn’t get into a comfortable running technique while wearing them.
Interestingly, my feet had decided to take full advantage of their huarache freedom and had expanded making minimalist shoes feel uncomfortable. It’s easy to do, even with a pair of scissors. I actually trimmed my old XeroShoes with scissors to fit my 18 years old sister cause she wanted the huaraches so bad. If you’re looking for a pair of healthy minimalist barefoot shoes, look no further thanXeroShoes. The new Umara Z-Trail are a huge improvement over previous models and are my chosen pair of ‘shoes’ for my travels.
Review – Xero Minimal Shoes/Huarache Sandal
Worst case, you’ll have gained a fun pair of walking sandals. As compared to the “one-size-fits-all” approach of the Amuri Cloud and Sensori Venture sandals, the DIY lacing options are virtually endless. We chose a basic lacing configuration for Hanna’s sandals, but one is only limited by imagination and time. Xero Shoes reports over 35,000 people in 92 countries have made their own sandals with a DIY Kit. Add two more people to the tally, as Hanna and I put her DIY Kit together. She went with the Electric Mint sole and Sky Blue laces.
- The only real difference is the use of the webbing instead of the cord and the buckle instead of a knot.
- On one particular hike we ventured off into the bush in pursuit of a route to the top of a rocky outcropping.
- As a parent of two little girls — an almost 3 year-old and a 7 month-old — my reckoning of children’s footwear is that healthy shoe options for growing feet are (quite literally) hard to come by.
- For the toe strap under the sole, I glued that to the sole using Shoe Goo and then covered it with another layer of Shoe Goo for protection.

Now, I maintain a huarache kit with all of the essentials needed to whip up a pair in a moment’s notice. (This is not something I can control.) If there is any “flap” at all, sometimes it will catch. Consequently I use a tying style that minimizes the amount of flap on the outer side of the sole and toe and that is usually sufficient.
The Sensori Huaraches Sandals Design
If that’s not worth a few high fives as well as a beaming spouse, well I don’t know what is. If you’re a little intimidated by this project, well, don’t be. It’s a hard thing to mess up and the reward for doing it is huge. Your kid will be proud to have helped make their own footwear.
Plus, those who like the Amuri lacing system can still have the hardware. Xero Shoes co-developed their sandal soles with the former lead designers from Nike and Reebok, and claim their material is better than Vibram’s. The material is comfortable, flexible and has a simple chevron tread system. The Amuri Cloud sandals contain a 3mm Barefoam insert for some added comfort under the forefoot.
Be Lenka Barefoot
A child’s foot hasn’t been subjected to years of confinement in small-toe-boxed shoes. Great shoes that have had a tremendous change in how I walk and stand. They’re made pretty well to hold up for lots of miles and only seem to get more comfortable with wear. I have one pair I keep doctoring up a bit just to keep wearing them around the house, they look worn, but they’re still comfortable than any shoes I’ve worn over the years. I own 6 pairs of Xero’s and can’t see myself really buying anything else. I bought the brown Denver – leather boot about a year or two ago.
I got a half price offer and couldn’t resist. I have always wanted to try them, especially with the ATS laces, which should be similar to what I came up with, just nicer looking and probably a bit more adjustable. Very curious of how the invisible shoes vs luna’s go in regards to hiking and long distance running. I would be interested to know where you got the 1/2″ hardware for the straps. I have some 1/2″ webbing but can’t seem to find good half-inch buckles to go with them. I prefer hiking in sandals that don’t have a toe strap so I want to make some sandals with webbing laced kinda like Chacos. I am the founder and editor-in-chief of Toe Salad.
What makes huaraches — and specifically Xero Shoes’ variety of huaraches — such a great choice in footwear for our little kids is that they do a few things amazingly well. I decided to lace traditionally and was a little nervous that the lace wrapping around my ankle would be a bother, rub or limit my gait somehow. What I found was completely the opposite and quite comfortable. In total, it took me 11 attempts to finally get it right. Granted, if I was going to REI to buy a pair of running shoes, it would take at least 45 minutes to drive there, shop around, try shoes on and purchase a pair.
You can’t do much better price-wise than you can with Xero Shoes. And I’m not just talking about compared to the trending minimalist footwear here either. These are priced well for any type of footwear, and even the custom-made Xero Shoes are a bargain. So I am gonna be reviewing a pair of Zero Shoes.
Those sandals are the most comfortable thing you’ll ever wear. Humans are lazy and not everyone has the time to watch a 10 minute video. We’re talking about double-corded laces here with special adjusters on each site to make them just right for you individually. Wearing Xero Shoes allows you to walk as if you were barefoot, without actually being barefoot. Now, I’m not a minimalist footwear expert, and I have not reviewed dozens of different types and models. But I have been going barefoot whenever possible since 2008.
